Add products from anywhere

Sourcing eats some of your most valuable hours, and most of that time is copy and paste: dimensions into a spreadsheet, images into a folder, pricing into a doc that goes stale by Friday. Tailor replaces all of it with four ways in. Every one lands the product fully specified: photos, dimensions, materials, pricing, and a clean background-removed cutout, ready for boards, renders, and schedules.

Your library vs. your projects

One distinction makes everything else make sense. The Library is studio-wide: every product anyone on your team has ever imported, tagged by retailer, style, and project, searchable across every job you have ever run. Selections are per-project: assign a library product to a room and it becomes a selection, a line item with its own quantity, status, and place on that project’s schedule. Import the sofa once and specify it on three different jobs. The spec travels; the selection stays local to each project.

Way one: import by URL

The fastest path when you already have a link. Paste any retailer URL, big-box or boutique maker, and Vision AI reads the page: photos, depth, width, height, weight, materials, and pricing, with the background removed from the hero image automatically. When a spec is missing from the page, Tailor reads what is there and quietly fills the gap. The product lands in your library with structured specs and a link back to source.

Way two: the Clipper extension

When sourcing is a browsing session rather than a single link, install the Tailor Clipper. See something you love on any retailer, click the Tailor icon, and the piece lands in your library with its image, dimensions, finish, lead time, and pricing already filled in. Clipping and syncing takes about a second and a half per product. No tab-juggling, no spreadsheet graveyard. Ways three and four: ask, or enter by hand

Sometimes you do not have a link — you have a need. Describe it to the AI: "find me three brass sconces under $400" and it returns real, importable candidates that match the brief. It is the same agent that powers Chat across Tailor, so you can ask from the Library or from inside a project and it works with your firm’s context either way.

And for trade pieces, custom builds, and antiques with no product page at all, manual add is the honest path. Enter the dimensions, finish, lead time, and pricing yourself, and upload your own photos. A manually entered piece behaves exactly like an imported one: it joins the library, drops onto boards and schedules, and carries its specs into every document downstream.

Where products go from here

Every product you add, whether clipped, pasted, found, or typed, becomes a real, usable record the moment it lands. Drop it onto a mood board and the cutout is already clean. Assign it to a room and it becomes a selection with a row on the schedule, a quantity, and a status. Anchor a render with it and the Visualizer knows its shape and finish. The point of importing well is that you only do it once.
